Orlando homes / What to plan for

Built for
Florida weather.

01

Roof first.

Panels last 25 years or more. If your roof is near the end of its life, replace it before installing solar. VOLT is a licensed Florida roofing contractor and can coordinate both.

02

Hurricane season.

Grid-tied solar shuts down in an outage. Add a battery such as Tesla Powerwall 3 to keep essential circuits running and recharge from the sun.

03

Permits and FPL.

We handle the building permit and FPL interconnection. Systems up to 10 kW fall in FPL's Tier 1, with no application fee.

Before you begin

Good questions.
Clear answers.

How much do solar panels cost in Orlando in 2026?

Typical Orlando installations cost about $2.08 per watt before incentives in 2026, roughly $29,600 for a 14.3 kW system. Your price depends on roof type, system size, equipment and whether you add a battery.

Does FPL still offer 1:1 net metering?

Yes. FPL credits the solar you export at the retail rate and carries excess credits forward for up to 12 months. Unused credits at year end are paid at a much lower avoided-cost rate, so systems are sized to your actual use.

Is there still a federal tax credit for solar?

Not for homeowners who buy their system: the 25D credit ended for systems completed after December 31, 2025. Leased and PPA systems can still benefit from the business credit claimed by the owner, reflected in the price you pay.

Will solar keep my home powered during a hurricane outage?

Only with a battery and backup controls. Without storage, grid-tied solar shuts down when the grid goes down. A battery keeps selected circuits on and recharges from your panels.

Does VOLT have an office near Orlando?

Yes. Our Central Florida office is at 2121 S Hiawassee Rd, Suite 120, Orlando, FL 32835, serving Orlando and the surrounding area.
