Home battery & Tesla Powerwall 3 installation in Florida and CaliforniaKeep the lights on.
Keep the sun for later.

Store your solar energy. Use it at night, during peak rates or when the grid goes down.

VOLT is a Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer. We design home batteries around the circuits you want to protect, the way your utility credits solar, and the outages you plan for.

Batteries can be added to most existing solar systems or installed with a new one. Availability is confirmed for each property.

Tesla Powerwall 3 / Key specs

One battery.
A built-in solar inverter.

Powerwall 3 combines storage and a solar inverter in one wall-mounted unit, which simplifies new solar-plus-storage installations.

13.5

kWh of usable energy

Enough to keep essential circuits running through an evening or a typical outage, depending on what you power.

11.5

kW of continuous power

Continuous on-grid output, configurable from 5.8 kW. It can start demanding loads such as many central air conditioners.

20

kW of solar input

An integrated inverter with six MPPTs accepts up to 20 kW of DC solar, so many systems need no separate inverter.

10

year warranty

Tesla's limited warranty covers 10 years. Systems can be expanded with up to three expansion units.

Whole-home or essential-loads backup?

The answer depends on your electrical panel, your largest appliances and how long outages last where you live. We size the battery and the backed-up circuits together, so you know in advance what stays on.

Why a battery / Where you live

Two states.
Two good reasons.

In Florida a battery is mainly about resilience. In California it is mainly about savings under the current solar tariff.

01

Florida: hurricane-season backup.

A grid-tied solar system shuts down during an outage for safety. A battery with the right controls isolates your home and keeps selected circuits powered, recharging from solar during the day.

Net metering still 1:1FPL credits exported solar at the retail rate, so in Florida the battery case is backup first, savings second.

Property taxFlorida excludes residential solar and solar-charged storage from assessed property value.

02

California: savings under NEM 3.0.

Since April 15, 2023, new solar customers are on the Net Billing Tariff, which credits exported energy far below retail. Storing midday solar and using it during the 4–9 pm peak is usually worth more than exporting it.

High retail ratesSDG&E's average residential rate rose to about 45.7¢/kWh in January 2026, which makes self-consumption more valuable.

Cost / Incentives in 2026

What a battery
costs today.

A Tesla Powerwall 3 typically costs about $13,000 to $16,000 installed in 2026, before any incentives. The final price depends on electrical work, the number of batteries, the backed-up circuits and permitting.

The federal residential clean energy credit (Section 25D) ended for systems completed after December 31, 2025, so homeowners who buy a battery can no longer claim it. Batteries installed through a lease or a power purchase agreement can still benefit from the business tax credit claimed by the system owner, which remains available for storage through 2033.

Your VOLT proposal shows the purchase and financing options side by side, with the incentives that apply to your property.

Your project / Step by step

From first question
to backup power.

Start with your home
  1. 01

    Choose what stays on.

List the circuits and appliances you need during an outage, and share a year of electricity bills.

  2. 02

    Size the system.

We match battery capacity and power to those loads, your solar production and your utility's billing rules.

  3. 03

    Install and commission.

Permits, installation, utility approval and app setup. We walk you through backup settings at handover.

Before you begin

Good questions.
Clear answers.

How long will a Powerwall 3 power my home during an outage?

It depends on what you run. Its 13.5 kWh of usable energy can keep essential loads such as the refrigerator, lights, Wi-Fi and some outlets running for many hours, and solar recharges it during the day. Central air conditioning uses energy much faster. We estimate runtime for your selected circuits in the proposal.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?

Usually, yes. Powerwall 3 can be added to many existing systems, and Powerwall 3 Expansion units can increase capacity later. We review your current inverter, panel and utility agreement first.

Do I still get a federal tax credit for a home battery in 2026?

Not if you buy it. The 25D homeowner credit ended for systems completed after December 31, 2025. Batteries installed through a lease or PPA can still benefit from the credit claimed by the system owner, which is reflected in the price you are offered.

Is a battery worth it in Florida if net metering is 1:1?

In Florida the main reason is backup during hurricanes and outages, not bill savings, because FPL still credits exported solar at the retail rate. If keeping power on matters to you, a battery is the way to get it from solar.

Why do California solar customers add batteries?

Under the Net Billing Tariff (NEM 3.0), exported solar is credited far below the retail rate. A battery stores midday solar for use in the evening peak, when energy is most expensive.
